| Course Objectives: | The aim of this course is to provide students with foundational computer skills, including the use of operating systems, Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), email, and online learning platforms such as Blackboard. Additionally, the course introduces students to the role of Artificial Intelligence in daily life and equips them with practical skills for document preparation, data analysis, visualization, and effective presentation techniques. By the end of the course, students will be able to confidently navigate computer environments, perform essential office tasks, and apply digital tools in both academic and professional contexts. |
| Course Content: | This course begins with an introduction to the Windows operating system and the basic principles of computers, including their architecture, main components, input/output devices, and various types of computers. Students will learn how to navigate the Windows interface, manage files and folders, open and manage programs, customize settings, and apply security and productivity tips. The course then covers the use of Blackboard, including accessing course materials, participating in classes, submitting assignments, taking exams and quizzes, and tracking grades. Students will also gain practical skills in using email, including sending, receiving, replying, organizing emails, setting up security features, creating signatures, using templates, and scheduling messages. The role and significance of artificial intelligence in daily life are introduced, along with current AI tools, considerations when working with AI, interactive practice activities, and potential career perspectives. The course then focuses on Microsoft Word, covering text editing, styles, tables, line spacing, page breaks, heading styles, preparing petitions, and working with references such as tables of contents and figures. After the midterm exam, students learn Excel basics, including the interface, worksheets, data entry, formatting, and simple formulas, followed by more advanced topics such as mathematical, text, and date functions, formula debugging, data analysis, visualization, sorting, filtering, conditional formatting, chart creation, table management, named ranges, data validation, and preparing worksheets for printing. Finally, students explore Microsoft PowerPoint, learning to create and manage slides, add images and multimedia, format content, apply themes, transitions, and animations, and deliver effective presentations through proper content design, audience engagement, rehearsal, and evaluation. The course concludes with a final exam to assess the acquired skills and knowledge. |
