Course Objectives and Content

Course Objectives: To introduce the science of pharmacology, to teach the sources of drugs, new drug discovery, pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic properties of drugs, routes of administration, mechanism of action and toxic effects, and information about chemotherapeutic drugs.
Course Content: Clinical evaluation of new drugs (Phase studies), Pharmacokinetic properties of drugs (absorption, distribution, metabolism, and elimination), drug-receptor relationship, dose-concentration-effect relationship, mechanisms of action of drugs, routes of administration of drugs, factors that change the effect of drugs, pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetic drug interactions, toxic effects of drugs, chemotherapeutics, drugs used in cardiovascular system diseases, autacoids, drugs for central sine system diseases, drugs for endocrine system diseases, drugs for respiratory system diseases, drugs for gastrointestinal system diseases
