Course Objectives and Content

Course Objectives: This course aims to provide a prespective about medical biology as well as cellular processes and genetic mechanisms. It aims to provide a broad perspective to life sciences with its cell biology, molecular biology and molecular genetics perspective.
Course Content: This course; Introduction to medical biology and genetics course, establishing the relationship between course learning outcomes and program competencies Introduction to medical biology, the beginning of life, common characteristics, cell diversity, prokaryotic and eukaryotic cell differences, cell theory, cell and organelles, cell membrane, endosymbiotic theory, cytoskeleton, movement and substance transport, cell cycle and control, cell division, mitosis, meiosis, basic concepts in genetics, nucleic acids: DNA and RNA, DNA replication, transcription, post-transcriptional modifications, translation, post-translational modifications, protein synthesis and packaging, gene It covers the regulation of expression, DNA sequences and chromosome structure, DNA damage, DNA mutations and varieties, DNA damage repair mechanisms, genetic diseases, molecular biology techniques, stem cell biology, human genome project, cancer genetics and epigenetic mechanisms.

1) To have knowledge and application skills about pre-formulation, formulation, laboratory, pilot and industrial scale production, quality assurance, quality control, validation, stability, storage, bioavailability, bioequivalence, licensing and patent studies of natural, synthetic, biological, biotechnological, nanotechnological, cosmetic, dermocosmetic products.
2) To have basic information about diseases, the stages of all drugs in the body, their mechanism of action, undesirable effects and factors that change the effect of drugs, toxic effects of drugs and chemical substances and their treatments,
3) To act as a consultant on rational drug use and safe drug use, which are the basis of pharmaceutical care,
4) To have the ability to practice their profession within the framework of laws and regulations
